How to Get a VPS for Free

The four kinds of 'free' VPS access

Free VPS offers are not all the same. An always-free allowance, a time-limited cloud credit, a promotional instance, and a beta program can all look free on day one while carrying very different limits later.

Always-free resources usually have a fixed hardware or usage allowance. Trial credit instead behaves like a temporary balance that can be consumed by eligible services. Promotional and beta access can disappear when a campaign or capacity window ends.

Always-free does not mean unlimited

An always-free program normally defines a resource allowance, eligible shapes, usage limits, home-region rules, or capacity restrictions. Read the provider documentation and consider what happens if an idle resource can be reclaimed or an eligible shape is temporarily unavailable.

Use trial credits deliberately

Create only the resources you need, understand what consumes the credit, and delete unused disks, IPs, or snapshots. A trial is most useful when it lets you test the exact production workflow rather than launching many unrelated services.

Beta and community access

Beta capacity can be useful for learning and testing, but it should not be treated as permanent production infrastructure unless the provider explicitly commits to that service level.

Before claiming a free VPS

Verify the current offer on the provider-owned page.

• Open the provider-owned pricing or product page before purchasing.
• Treat stock as live only when Koba explicitly labels the signal as live.
• Confirm region, IPv4 terms, transfer limits, taxes, and renewal pricing.
• Check payment and identity requirements for your own country and account.
